Reflections in the 40s - Part 10 - Becoming - Not Arriving

For a long time, I thought life was about arriving. Reaching certain milestones — the right role, financial security, recognition, stability. Each goal felt like a destination where things would finally settle. But somewhere along the journey, I realised that life doesn’t really work that way.

Every milestone simply opens the door to a new version of yourself. The person who once chased those goals is already changing by the time you reach them. The destination moves, the questions evolve, and so do you.

In my 40s, I’ve begun to see life less as a ladder to climb and more as a process of becoming. Becoming wiser, calmer, more intentional. Becoming someone who understands what truly matters and what can be let go.

There is something freeing in this shift. When you stop obsessing about arrival, you begin to appreciate growth itself.

Because in the end, life is not about reaching a final point of success.
It’s about who you are becoming along the way.
